KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Officers with the Honolulu Police Department's Specialized Services Division spent Sunday night scouring Windward Oahu for suspects in the kidnapping of two men in Kailua. One suspect was taken into custody, while another remained on the loose.

Investigators say the kidnapping began at a house on Alala Road near Kailua Beach as early as Friday. Initial reports indicated that the suspects demanded money from the victims and then forced them into a white van.

Police say off-duty officers on Sunday noticed a man being pushed out of a moving van near Likelike Highway and Anoi Road. The vehicle was later found abandoned across the street from Kaneohe Elementary.

Both victims escaped their captors and reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The police helicopter assisted ground crews, including HPD's canine unit, in the search for the remaining suspect. Police are asking Kaneohe residents to be aware of any suspicious activity in the area.
