HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Waianae designer has advanced on the hit fashion design show, Project Runway. Season eight kicked off Thursday night with 23-year-old Andrew Southiphone, AKA Andy South, making the first cut. He was in New York for the premiere.
Although he is quickly making his way to the top, he's proud of his Hawaii roots.
Andy said, "I'm really, really proud of that. I made sure that they put that I was from Waianae on the website because that's something that I'm very proud of. You know, a lot of people don't expect that coming out of that community but I really am proud to say that that's where I grew up."
He already knows how far he made it in the designing competition, but he is not allowed to tell just yet.
