HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Oahu's trash shipping plan has hit another snag. A court in Washington state, where the trash is set to be shipped, has issued a temporary restraining order to block shipments.
A group of Native Americans is pushing for an environmental study on the impact to their landfill.
They're worried about new bugs being brought in that could damage their crops.
It's been nine months since Hawaiian Waste Systems got the contract to ship garbage from Kalaeloa, and they have yet to sail.
