Makua brush fire contained

MAKUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The large brush fire that burned up part of the Makua Valley hillside is now contained.

Sky News Now got an exclusive view over Makua's Northern ridge where flames have burned about 300 acres since the fire began Saturday afternoon.

The wildfire broke out on military property, near the Makua firing range. No homes or buildings were threatened.

More than 50 firefighters and five helicopters from Honolulu, State, Federal and Army Fire Departments fought the fire.

Some crews will remain on the scene through tomorrow to monitor hot spots and watch for flare ups.
