SAN DIEGO (HawaiiNewsNow) - We know people here in the islands will be watching but the cast of the new Hawaii Five-O want as many as they can get nationwide! They headed to this year's Comic-Con in San Diego to drum up interest and bring some island flair to the hugely popular event.

Thousands of screaming fans waited hours in line to see the first scenes from the CBS remake of Hawaii Five-O. The music may be the same but there's a whole new cast.

"I think there's some great action" said Daniel Dae Kim who plays Chin Ho Kelly on the show. What does Kim think of Comic-Con?

"I think it's crazy in the best of ways. I think this is my third time here and I never get over how enthusiastic the fans are. I love the fact that I get to get to geek out a little bit too."

Daniel says he watched Star Trek growing up and is a big fan of his co-star Grace Park, who made a name for herself on Battlestar Galactica. Now her fans get to see her play Kono Kalakaua, surrounded by surfboards and sunshine. from

How did she go from Battlestar Galactica to Hawaii Five-O?

"Through the atmosphere I guess!" said Park.

Grace says although the show has a huge budget her costumes often consist of next to nothing. She portrays a cop but in all the promos she wears a bikini.

"I patrol the beach" she said, laughing.

"Lifeguard. It doesn't pay very much."

Along with a few famous lines...

"Book ‘em Danno."

The buzz on Hawaii Five-O is that it delivers a gritty, well-written script and the famous face of Daniel Dae Kim, who became a star playing Jin on Lost, a hit show with loose ends that many fans are still processing.

"Join the club. I think it is going to take a little while before everyone gets all the answers that they need to and process all the questions" said Kim.

Many were in tears over his final scene on Lost, but Kim wants fans to know…

"I'm still alive on Hawaii Five-O!"
