HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...
It's Godzilla!! No, not really. But for kids all across Japan, this is a chance for their huge "Rhino Beatles" or "Kabutomushi" to battle it out in the sumo ring. The ring is actually a tree stump and the insects try to push each other off. There were also tug-of-war events where the beatles battled each other while balancing on a bamboo pole.
Sand sculptors from across the world have gathered in Latvia to showcase their artistic flair on the beach.. sort of. It's all for the 4th International Sand Sculpture Festival and this year's theme was "Travel in Time". Fifteen teams from around the world spent hours trying to sculpt tons of sand, but it wasn't on the beach. Most sculptures were constructed in public venues.
Surfers down-under turned in their surfboards for ice skates on the world famous Bondi Beach. It's all for the Sydney Winter Festival as people look for a new way to cool off on a temporary ice skating rink. Proceeds from the event will go to the world-famous Bondi Lifesaving Clubs which operate the lifeguard stations all along the beach.
