LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii softball coach Bob Coolen, designated player Jenna Rodriguez, and outfielder Kelly Majam were in Los Angeles as ESPN presented its ESPY awards Wednesday night.

The Wahine softball team had been nominated in the category of Best Upset.

The award went to the University of Northern Iowa for its stunning victory over Kansas in the NCAA men's Basketball Tournament.

"When Northern Iowa was presented and called it was just deflating, but exciting none the less because we saw ourselves on the big stage up there and we were one of the four nominees," Coolen told Hawaii News Now.

"Kelly and Jenna were beside themselves.  They were taking pictures of as many celebrities as they could.  Rubbing elbows with them.  Seeing them in the lobby.  This was a great experience up here," Coolen said.
