HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Japan is cutting back on government spending because of budget woes. That means the popular Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program could be eliminated or significantly scaled back. Hawaii has sent nearly 900 participants to the country during the last 23 years. According to the Japanese Consulate in Honolulu, the application process will continue as usual. For more information about a petition to save the JET program, go to http://www.change.org/petitions/view/save_the_jet_program
