HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A family fell for a pot bellied pig we showed you on our newscast Tuesday night. Has a new home. The pig was picked up by the Humane society when it was found wandering at a Waimanalo park last week.
Mitchell Ortiz watched the news last night and his kids begged to adopt "Mr. Piggy".
"We've got a beautiful place, lots of acreage and good people. The kids are really kind and nice and he's going to be well taken care of" said Ortiz.
The pig will have lots of room to roam at his new home in Pupukea. We're told he'll even have horses, sheep and dogs as new friends.
"Mr. Piggy" had been with the Hawaiian Human Society since last week Thursday. Shelter volunteers believe that Mr. Piggy was someone's pet due to his calm behavior. Potbelly pigs can be as tall at 18 inches and can weigh around 60 to 110 pounds. An average life span of a potbelly pig ranges from 20 to 25 years.
