‘Kahala panty burglar' denied parole

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The convicted sex offender known as the Kahala panty burglar was up for an early release from prison, but he'll have to stay in jail until at least October. Harrison Mew got a five year sentence after violating his parole for sex assault.

At a hearing Tuesday, Mew was denied parole. His next appearance before the paroling authority is in October.

Mew was known as the panty burglar for stealing women's underwear from Kahala homes in the 1980s. He got in trouble again last year for using a fake name to rent rooms in his home to several women.
