Unoccupied residence destroyed in Waialua fire

WAIALUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Fire investigators are trying to determine what started a house fire Saturday night in Waialua. It was reported just after 10:00 p.m. at an unoccupied residence on Polu Way in an area known as "Mill Camp."

Neighbors reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the two-bedroom building.

The fire was declared under control about a half hour later.

But the structure is a total loss.

There were reports that homeless had been living there.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Damages are estimated at $100,000.
