HONOLULU (Hawaii News Now) - Starting July 8, Whole Foods Market Kahala shoppers are invited to experience a dash of aloha, with free cooking demonstrations by Kapi'olani Community College (KCC) culinary instructors highlighting recipes from their new cookbook A DASH of Aloha: Healthy Hawai'I Cuisine and Lifestyle.
"Whole Foods Market Kahala Mall is excited to have the KCC instructors cooking up recipes from their new cookbook for our shoppers to enjoy," says Natalie Aczon, marketing supervisor. "Our customers are always looking for healthy alternatives to their favorite local recipes and that is what this new book is all about."
Every Thursday in July, starting July 8, at 4 p.m. an instructor from the Kapi'olani Community College culinary arts department, will be demonstrate and sample recipes from the A DASH of Aloha cookbook, which was released this past February. This unique cookbook introduces the easy-to-use DASH (Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension) eating and activity plan, which teaches readers how to lead a healthy lifestyle combining good eating habits and regular physical activity.

2 C ripe Hamakua tomatoes, chopped in large chunks
1/4 C black olives, sliced
1/4 C thinly (slivers) sliced sweet Maui onion
1/4 C fresh basil, julienned
1 tsp.garlic clove, pressed
2 T extra-virgin olive oil
1 T rice vinegar
1/8 tsp salt
fresh cracked pepper
8 C Manoa or Green leaf lettuce
