Star-Advertiser company buys 11 papers in Canada

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The owner of Hawaii's biggest newspaper continues its media shopping spree. Black Press, which bought the Honolulu Advertiser last month and turned it into the Star Advertiser, has bought 11 more newspapers in British Columbia.

Four of those, are being shut down to save money, much like the Honolulu deal that consolidated two papers.

The private media group now owns about 170 newspapers in the U.S. and Canada.
