Dead green sea turtle found on Leeward Oahu beach

EWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Scientists are trying to figure out what killed a large green sea turtle that was found Thursday morning at a beach in west Oahu. Surfers were heading out at White Plains beach in Ewa when they noticed there was something in the shore break.

"Well both sides were completely caved in. Just looking at it, I don't know what would have done that. My first inclination was sharks but then they would have gone through the whole thing…the halves on each side" said Bob Reynolds.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says it looks like a possible shark attack, but cannot rule out that a boat cracked the shell of the 300 pound turtle. They hope to determine the cause of death Friday.
