Chaminade hires new women's hoop coach

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Chaminade University has hired Bobby Keanini to be the head coach of the Silverswords' women's basketball team.

Keanini served as the head girls' basketball coach at Roosevelt from 1992-2007. During that time, his teams made seven state tournament appearances with a Division II State Championship and a Division I State runner up finish. He was named OIA Eastern Division Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 while also garnering Division II State Coach of the Year accolades in 2004.

He succeeds Christina Apisa who coached the team for three years and has left to spend more time with her family and complete her master's degree.
