HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The man accused of killing a Kailua attorney testified in his own defense. Daniel Kahanaoi told the jury he shot Craig Kimsel while trying to wresstle a gun out of Kimsel's hands on April 28, 2009.

"I grabbed the gun. I pushed him and the gun went off," he said.

Kahanaoi  said he shot Kimsel a second time when it looked like Kimsel was reaching for a knife. But the prosecutor pointed out that it was Kahanaoi not Kimsel who held the weapon.

Kahanaoi said he never threatened to kill Kimsel or Rusty Anoba when he went to Kimsel's home. Anoba was Kahanoi's girlfriend and Kimsel's ex-girlfriend.
