PHILADELPHIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kamehameha Schools graduate Dane Sardinha, called up to the Phillies on Saturday from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, hit his first Major League home run in the sixth inning of Thursday's game against the Cleveland Indians.
Sardinha's solo shot to left field sparked a five-run Philadelphia rally. The Phillies went on to beat the Indians 12-3.
Sardinha went 1 for 4 at the plate. He also reached base on a fielder's choice and scored two runs.
The Phillies regular catcher, Carlos Ruiz, is on the 15-day disabled list with a concussion.
