HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – UPDATE: Tips from the public led to the arrest of Ashton Santos. He was picked up Saturday, June 26 on Middle Street in Kalihi.

February 6, 2004. A 33-year-old woman got into a traffic dispute with Ashton Santos near the intersection of Lanipo and Mokulua Drives in Kailua.

"He thought that the victim had cut him off, pulled alongside of her yelling, swearing, calling her out" said Sgt. Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers.

Police say he followed her until she pulled into the parking lot of a gas station.

"He got out of his vehicle, came up to her window, started yelling, went back to his vehicle, and came back with a handgun. So in the meantime, the whole time the incident was going on, she's on the phone calling the police, giving updates."

Santos eventually left and police later found him near the Castle Medical Center.

"He was positively identified, arrested for the terroristic threatening in the first degree and while being searched for the weapon, drugs were found on his person. The weapon was found in his vehicle through a search warrant and also more drugs."

Then in 2008 Santos violated a temporary restraining order three times by contacting his ex-girlfriend.

"He does have 10 prior convictions and they're place to keep the drugs, the protective order, probation revocation."
