HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - You'll have less time this year to get a fireworks permit before July Fourth. Not only does the holiday fall on a Sunday, but City and County offices will be closed on July 2 for furlough Friday. so the deadline is Thursday, July 1.
You can get your applications at any fire station and submit them at your local satellite city hall. Permits are $25 and are good for 5,000 individual firecrackers. You don't need a permit for sparklers and other novelty fireworks.
Fireworks go on sale on Tuesday, June 29.
