Maui furlough days: 12 Fridays next fiscal year

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Mayor Charmaine Tavares says employees will have 12 furlough Fridays in the next fiscal year, starting July 1.

Police officers and firefighters are excluded.

Mayor Tavares has also agreed to cut her pay, equal to the 12 furlough days.

The offices that will close on those days include the council district offices in Hana, Lanai and Molokai, the old Wailuku courthouse and the DMV satellite offices.
