HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Starting next year, Hawaii students will be held to a new standard. The Board of Education has unanimously decided to have public schools join the "Common Core Standards Initiative."
The program sets the same educational standards for students across the country.
It will start in the fall of next year.
BOE members say Hawaii's curriculum is already similar to the initiative, so they don't anticipate big changes for students or teachers.
