Computer program change leads to delayed unemployment checks

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A computer programming change led to some late unemployment checks and a lot of stress for people needing to pay their bills. The unemployment office says it usually prints checks on Monday, but was delayed by a day.

The result is several thousand people will receive their unemployment checks Thursday or Friday. A spokesperson says there are frequent federal changes to extensions or payment options. That means extra work for the office, and this time, it led to delays.
