HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Break out the popcorn and mochi crunch! Moviegoers will soon be able to enjoy an enhanced big screen experience. The technology is called Titan Extreme Cinema.

A redesigned auditorium at Ward Stadium 16 features a 66-foot wide screen, powerful sound system and leather seating. Movies will be shown using a new digital projection system. There are even special 3-D glasses.

"It's very high, new technology. They're active glasses, so the process actually happens within the lenses. They're little, mini LCD screens that work alongside the projector" said Rachel Gibson of Consolidated Theatres

Moviegoers can now reserve their seats online. Adult tickets for 3-D screenings will set you back $16.25; children's tickets are $13.

The grand opening is Friday June 18, which coincides with the premiere of "Toy Story 3". The next sequel in the "Twilight" vampire series "Eclipse" will launch on June 30.
