HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It could be an episode of "Tool Time" with Tim Allen, but no, it's the 3rd annual Wyoming Belt Sander Drag Races. Racers of all ages competed in a double elimination bracket, sending their decked out sanders down a 35-foot long drag strip complete with starting lights. The winner was a local kid Austin Merrill who beat out his own father in the semi-finals.
Margaret Kelly has been serenaded by the happy birthday song more than a hundred times. One hundred and eight times to be exact. The 108-year-old woman celebrated her birthday surrounded by family and friends and even had enough energy to blow out a couple candles. Now Margaret wouldn't reveal any beauty secrets to staying healthy, but her daughter revealed that she used to like sipping blackberry brandy before bed. Margaret has four children and more than 30 grand and great grand children.
A smell in the air is getting some attention in a North Carolina town near Charlotte. The smell is coming from this billboard along the interstate. The scented billboard emits the smell of grilled steak, promoting a new line of beef at a local grocery store chain. If you're wondering how it works, a high powered fan attached to the bottom of the billboard pole dispenses the aroma from a black pepper and charcoal-scented fragrance oil. The billboard will release the aroma every day between 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. through June 18th. Too bad we can't smell it on TV.
