HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - If you're in Kailua on Saturday, don't forget to visit "Save Kailua Fireworks." They'll be handing out shave ice and collecting donations at Kailua Shopping Center between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The group needs $10,000 more to put on a Fourth of July fireworks show this year. You can also donate online at Kailuafireworks.com
Also on Saturday, Iolani Palace is opening up its doors to honor Japanese American World War Two Veterans. The free family-friendly event features a concert with Jake Shimabukuro, dancing, food and a talk story session. A $15 VIP ticket gets you a tour of the palace, reserved seating and a fast pass to all the booths. Check it out from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The dog days of summer are upon us and when it gets hot outside, Otto the dog hits the waves. The seven-year-old canine hits the water behind his owner's power boat. And as you can see, he is pretty cool out there with his shades on. Otto's owner takes him everywhere... on sea and land. Whether it's riding bikes or even on the back of a moped.
