HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Director Guillermo del Toro said Monday that production delays have forced him to quit the planned film version of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, a two-part prequel to New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson's blockbuster trilogy Lord of the Rings. del Toro said in a statement: "After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien's Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures," noting the film still hadn't been given the green light by MGM.

Celine Dion says she's pregnant after undergoing in-vitro fertilization. Dion (age 42) and husband Rene Angelil (68) are expecting twins this fall.  Dion and Angelil are already parents to 9-year-old son Rene-Charles.

Lost star Naveen Andrews and actress Barbara Hershey quietly ended their 11 year relationship 6 months ago. Andrews' manager confirmed the split to People magazine, saying, "They remain best of friends." Andrews, 41, and Hershey, 62, met of the set of the 1998 indie film Drowning on Dry Land.
