Motorcyclist recovering after hit-and-run crash on H-1

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 37-year-old Waipahu man is recovering from a broken ankle after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Tuesday morning. Police the man was driving a motorcycle Ewa-bound on H-1 near Ward Avenue when he was rear-ended by a white Toyota sedan just after midnight.

The driver of the Toyota fled the scene after the crash. Witnesses reported seeing the sedan speeding and weaving just before the collision.

Police say that alcohol, drugs and speed were not a factor with the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor with the driver of the Toyota.
