KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hundreds turned out for the Governor's Memorial Day Ceremony at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe Monday afternoon.

The many veterans organizations in attendance supplied the parade with flags and lei.

Na Leo Lani choir sang their version of the crowd favorite "God Bless America."

Governor Linda Lingle followed with her Memorial Day address.

She thanked the veterans and all the men and women currently serving in the military.

"Each generation has shared the responsibility of protecting our nation and defending freedom around the world, different burdens by different generations but in equal commitment to democracy and freedom," she said.

Major General Robert Lee delivered the welcome remarks.

"And Now They Rest" was the theme for this year's ceremony.
