Medical examiner: free diver died from drowning

KAENA POINT (HawaiiNewsNow) - We now know the identity of a man found in the waters off Oahu Saturday. 21-year old Cullen Santos of Waipahu was found by rescue crews after disappearing while free diving Saturday morning on the Waialua side of Kaena Point.

Soon after Santos was reported missing, rescue crews began their search in the water and on land. A few hours later, he was found with no signs of life.

The Honolulu medical examiner's office confirmed Monday that Santos death was the result of asphyxia due to drowning.
