HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Parking at Aloha Stadium fills up quickly when the University of Hawaii football team is playing at home. It is a situation that frustrates many fans including season ticket holders.
University administrators are hoping to address some of the frustrations and generate additional revenue by offering season ticket holders the opportunity reserve a stall for the entire season.
People who have two or more season tickets will soon get purchase instructions in the mail. The price of a stall will initially range from $300 to $400, but prices will be reduced unless all 1,700 stalls reserved for this program sell-out quickly
There will still be more than 5,000 stalls for purchase on game days.
UH will hold a reverse auction on June 7 at 8:00 AM on a special website. Bidding will begin at $400 for the inner circle, $350 for the bus lot and $300 for the Kamehameha lot. Prices will drop daily until June 11 or when the supply of passes is exhausted.
"Obviously not everyone is going to get one, that is one of the reasons why we put the reverse auction in place because some people are willing to donate more to get the passes more than others so the thing that is really fair about this process is, is that the customers themselves will decide whether or not they want to donate a certain amount to get a pass" said UH Athletics Director Jim Donovan.
