Big Island man arrested on suspicion of heroin and morphine possession

PUNALUU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – Police on Hawaii island arrested a Kailua-Kona man Thursday after they say that illegal drugs were discovered in his belongings. Officers were looking to arrest 39-year-old Lee Todd Mallon on an unrelated bench warrant for drug and firearms offenses from September of last year.

Mallon was arrested in Punaluu late Thursday afternoon. Police say they obtained consent to search his belongings and subsequently discovered 7.6 grams of heroin and 1.1 grams of morphine. Investigators say drug paraphernalia was also found in his possession.

Mallon was held at the Kona police cellblock pending a court appearance for the bench warrant. Police are continuing to investigate the heroin and morphine offenses.
