KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Pacific University softball team faces Chico State Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22 in an NCAA Division II Super Regional at Howard Okita Field on HPU's Windward campus.

The Super Regional is a best of three series.  The first team, HPU or Chico State, to win two games will advance to the Division II Softball World Series.

It is the first time the Sea Warriors have hosted a Super Regional.  Before the NCAA agreed to let HPU host, the university had to make some changes.

"The NCAA requires us to have seating for 500 when we host the regionals.  That's what you see here now.  We had to rent some bleachers and stuff," said head coach Bryan Nakasone.

Friday's game will begin at 2 p.m.  Saturday's first game is scheduled for 11 a.m.  A second game will be played Saturday at 1:30 p.m. If necessary.
