PICHILEMU, CHILE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii surfer Jamie Sterling finished fourth at the Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta de Lobos Big Wave Invitational Wednesday.
Hawaii's Mark Healey placed fifth.
California's Peter Mel was the top U.S. Surfer. He took third.
The event was won by Chile's Cristian Merello. He finished second behind Sterling in the first heat of the day, but rode the biggest waves and scored the most points in the finals.
Wave face heights at Punta de Lobos reached 30 feet during the competition.
