WAILUKU, Maui (AP) - A Maui police officer says he's not guilty of promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. Ryan Masada entered his pleas Tuesday in Circuit Court. Trial is set for July 2.

According to court documents, Masada disposed of a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue in a Wailuku Police Station locker room trash can in February. The documents say the 39-year-old Masada told detectives he didn't remember where he got the pipe or how long he had it, but that it wasn't his and he didn't smoke ice.

Masada, a 17-year veteran of the police department, is free $10,000 bail. Judge Shackley Raffetto ordered Masada not to consume alcohol or illegal drugs and not to possess drug paraphernalia.
