HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - UPDATE: Police arrested Jonathan Bagay on Wednesday June 9th.
August 19, 2006. Police arrested Jonathan Bagay for stealing a car stereo near the intersection of Waipio Uka and Puha streets.
"Upon being searched, there were drugs found on his property and he was subsequently arrested for promoting dangerous drugs in the third degree" said Sgt. Kim Buffett of Crimestoppers.
Two months later officers responded to a report of several men stripping a stolen vehicle in Waipahu near Pupukupa and Pupukoae streets.
"Basically, he had stolen checks in his pocket, identification cards. He was arrested for detaining stolen property, the UCPV, UEMV, and again, drugs were found on his property."
On December 13, 2006, a report about some suspicious behavior led police to Kaku Street in Kaneohe.
"They saw males returning to the vehicle carrying items. They checked the homes in the area and found that one of the homes on Kaku was burglarized and then started receiving calls for three other homes on the same street."
Officers arrested Bagay for the burglaries and a drug violation. The following month, a Waipahu resident spotted two men in a vehicle parked in front of his neighbor's home on Loaa Street.
"The males exited the vehicle, went to the side of the house, and were seen a short time later carrying items. The property was positively identified by the owners after the males were located nearby" said Buffett.
Finally, on March 1, 2007, police busted Bagay in the Pearl City area.
"He's a known person in the area, so they see him driving. They notice that he's acting a little strange as he passes, the officer runs the plates and finds out that the car is reported stolen."
