SANTIAGO, CHILI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Five surfers from Hawaii who charge the largest swells they can find are expected to compete Wednesday in a big wave contest in Chile.
It is called the Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta De Lobos Big Wave Invitational.
The forecast calls for surf measuring at least 25 feet.
The break at Punta De lobos is just beyond a bed of exposed rocks. The break goes left which makes it different than the big surf at Waimea Bay where the wave goes to the right.
Local boys Shane Dorian, Kohl Christensen, Mark Healey, Jamie Sterling, and Dave Wassel are among the 24 surfers who have been invited to compete.
