AIEA (HawaiiNewsNow) – Prosecutors have charged two men with kidnapping and assault after they allegedly handcuffed and threw a 17-year-old boy into a car trunk and drove him around Saturday morning for over a hour.19-year old Bladesin Bailey and 18-year old Andrew Rodriguez will face one count each of kidnapping and assault.

Police got a call about the alleged kidnapping near the Waiau District Park shortly before 10 Saturday morning. Witnesses reported seeing someone being stuffed in a car's trunk before it sped away.

According to police documents, the boy was able to call 911 from the trunk despite being handcuffed. He also called and texted his mother, telling her "they took me from the house, I'm in the trunk and I'm scared."

The boy spent over an hour in the trunk of the car, during which time he was able to text the make and color of the car, and the first names of his alleged abductors.

An hour into the ordeal he texted: "I'm gonna die mom, I do not know where I at."

Police were able to trace the victim's general location by "pinging" his cell phone. Police say the suspects let the victim go after they found out officers were after them.

Officers tracked down the car near Radford High School on Salt Lake Boulevard.

"Two males were detained. At that time, dispatch received a call about a male running down the street at the end of Moanalua Valley in handcuffs and appeared injured" said Lt. Glenn Maekawa of the Honolulu Police Department.

The teen was treated and released from a nearby hospital. The two remain in custody; their bail has been set at $20,000. No word yet on a motive.
