HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A former computer teacher was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday for using the Internet to arrange a sexual meeting with a child.
Ryan Kawamoto chose not to say anything before Circuit Judge Dexter Del Rosario handed down the mandatory punishment for electronic enticement.
Prosecutors say the 30-year-old Pearl City man tried to hook up with a 14-year-old girl, after having sexual conversations with her online. He was actually chatting with an undercover officer.
At the time of his arrest, Kawamoto was the program manager for Ohana Komputer, a non-profit organization that teaches students computer skills.
