HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An 18-year-old accused of murdering a taxi driver appeared in court Monday morning. Police say 18-year-old Michael Robles and a 17-year-old boy beat 41-year-old Ty Tang after he gave them a ride from Waikiki to Waipahu May 1st.

Officers say Robles admitted to being in the Waipahu parking lot, where Tang was beaten and found unconscious.

A bus driver told police that night, the two teens asked him if his route went to Waipahu. When he said no, the driver said the two teens got into a white-colored cab near Seaside Avenue.

The driver helped police produce two sketches of the suspects. Workers at Hale Kipa, a transitional home for juveniles, said the sketches matched the description of two teens who left without permission.

Robles was picked up for unrelated crimes. His bail is set at $250,000. The other suspect's identity is being withheld, because he is a minor.
