Elections test run goes smoothly

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Office of Elections workers are tying up loose ends and making final preparations for the upcoming congressional special election.

On Saturday, workers held a test of the ballot counting machines.

It's done to ensure the logic and accuracy of the results.

These are the same machines used in previous elections.

Official observers from both parties were on hand to verify the testing of the machines.

"On a day like today, they would mark ballots and run them through with a no result and make sure they get those results back. We just want to make sure the system is working properly so on election day everything is a go", said Chief Elections Officer Scott Nago.

Elections officials say no problems were reported from Saturday's test.

As a reminder, all ballots for the special election need to be received by May 22nd in order to be counted.
