Top seeded Pearl City seeks 1st state baseball title

WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Wally Yonamine Foundation Baseball Division I State Championship opened with four games at Iron Maehara Stadium Wednesday night.

Defending state champion Punahou advanced by shutting out Mililani 12-0.

In other games Campbell defeated Moanalua 4-3, Kailua eliminated Kaiser 6-1, and Mid-Pacific knocked off Maui High 4-1.

The top four seeds (Pearl City, St. Louis, Baldwin, and Hilo) in the tournament open play Thursday.

The Pearl City Chargers are the number one seed.  They have enjoyed a perfect 15-0 season.  Pearl City will play Punahou Thursday.
