Kauai is about to get its first electric bill rate increase since the mid-1990s. The Kauai Island Utility Cooperative says business bills will rise two and a half percent. Households will pay about eight dollars more a month. The Cooperative's biggest cost factor is soaring oil prices.
Holiday Inn is launching a $100 million ad campaign, the biggest hotel brand re-launch ever. Marriott is advertising 15 percent off weekend stays at Courtyard. And Starwood has a new campaign called "Pon Tour with Starwood Preferred Guests."
Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Royal Hawaiian Center says this is national hamburger month. So it's offering a $10 hamburger that includes steak fries, onion rings and drink...lunchtime only.
The surf retailer "Hawaiian Island Creations" opens a new flagship store in Waikiki on May 7th, in the old Burberry space where Beachwalk forks off Kalakaua. I always wondered why we had a Burberry Outlet in Waikiki.
