Local car mechanic hopes to stay on airwaves

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A long-time automobile repair mechanic is hoping to save his popular local radio show.  George Nitta has been on the airwaves for more than 20 years, hosting a radio show every Saturday called Auto 101.  But since the downturn in the economy, Nitta's sponsors have pulled out, leaving him with little financial help.  He says people who call in and listen to his radio show rely on his free advice.  "My listeners are worldwide and I've been getting response from as far as New York, Canada, Denmark with e-mails trying to find ways for me to stay on the air", said Nitta.  So far, Nitta still has his automobile repair shop, but is looking for sponsors to help him continue his radio show.
