KAILUA, Oahu (HawaiiNewsNow) - A brutal shooting. A man is in the hospital Saturday night, after gunfire breaks out in broad daylight in Kailua.

Police say it all started from a fight Friday night. Now, a Kailua man in his 20's is in stable condition at Queen's, recovering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A 45-year-old Waimanalo man is under arrest for attempted murder.

Sky News Now above a crime scene in Kailua at the intersection of Wailepo Place and Kihapai Street.

Police say Friday night a vehicle was burning rubber, then an argument started.

No one was hurt, but at around 11 a.m., witnesses say two men were fighting at this intersection.

They say both had a friend on their side, one friend pulled out a pipe, while the other friend pulled out a gun, then shot the man holding the pipe at least six times in the head, chest and back.

"I was inside my house and then it sounded like fireworks were going off and then after like six shots it stopped and was like, wait a minute, who's setting off fireworks at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday? and then couple shots went off and there was like one more and four more shots after that," Witness Joseph Dillinger said.

Dillinger says there are lots of kids in the area.

"I mean anybody asked like what if that was your kid that got shot," he said.

Police arrested 45-year-old Sidney Silva of Waimanalo for attempted murder.

The victim, a man in his 20's, was taken to Castle Medical Center in critical condition, but he was transferred to Queen's and now is in stable condition.

Witnesses say at least 12 shots were fired, but no one else was hurt.

Police are still investigating this incident. They believe it isn't gang-related.
