WAIPAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 22-year-old Leeward Oahu man is behind bars for allegedly kidnapping a five-year-old girl.

It happened at the Waipahu District Park on Sunday afternoon.

But it was the heads up thinking of family members and a one of the pool's lifeguards who stopped the suspect, Anthony Davis from taking the girl for good.

They held him down until police arrived and eventually arrested him. People who go to this park are concerned for their loved one's safety.

"It's pretty unsafe, so I recommend it for the parents to be with their children," Waipahu resident Charlene Labuguen said.

Prosecutors have charged Davis with kidnapping, which is a felony. His bail is set at $50,000.
