KAILUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - There's a huge difference between renting an apartment and renting a house. Big things from utilities to more manini things like taking out the rubbish are the kind of things you have to consider before renting a home. Let's keep those issues in mind and take a look at a home for rent on Oahu's Windward side.

Take a look at this three bedroom one-and-a-half bath home in the Kailua neighborhood of Enchanted Lake. This home is just under 1,500 square feet. It has a special feature out back, but first notice the large 7,000 square foot lot with many fruit trees and enclosed backyard, perfect for pets and small keiki.

Now let's take a look inside.

"What we have here is the main dwelling area. This is the living room, opens up into a kitchen. We have a den, and three bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths down the hall" said Berton Hamamoto of Property Profiles.

The home was just repainted it's close to both schools and shopping centers on the windward side. In addition to all this, let's take a look at that unique feature out back.

"Here we are in the studio. This is a separate entry studio that attaches to the side of the house. It has a full bath and large walk-in closet. Little bar sink. Ideal for an  in-law or one of the older kids that doesn't want to be with the rest of the family."

This home is being offered at $2,550 a month.

One of the differences between renting an apartment and a home is, with homes, you have to pay for electricity, cable and all of that. For about $3,000 you can rent a flexible Kailua home that has room to grow and still be private on the Windward side.

This week's tip: Landlords are only responsible for keeping things livable and habitable. Before renting, make sure you know what the yard maintenance is, whether that's included in the rent or maybe the landlord expects you to do it.
