KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Kona man faces multiple charges after police say he stabbed a man and a woman Saturday night at Kahaluu Beach Park. 58-year-old Emmanuel "Bob" Niihau faces first and second degree assault and terroristic threatening charges.
Authorities say that Niihau got into an argument Saturday night at the park with a 41-year-old woman and then stabbed her in the back. When a 51-year-old man came to her defense, Niihau allegedly stabbed him in the side.
Both victims were taken to Kona Community Hospital. The man was treated for his wound and released. The woman remains at the hospital in guarded condition.
Police say Niihau fled the scene but was arrested later that night at an abandoned church near the park. He remains in police custody at the Kona cellblock pending a court appearance. His bail is set at $35,000.
