HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Continental Micronesia will do a weekly flight between Honolulu and Guam that makes a stopover in Majuro, in the Marshall Islands. Continental Micronesia has island-hopper service three times a week from Majuro to Chuuk, Phonpei, Ksorae and Kawajein. The Honolulu-connecting service starts June 5.
The Commerce Department has done a snapshot of winter tourism across America. From the month of January, 3.4 million international visitors came to the U.S., up 10 percent from the same time last year. But hold your applause, they spent 10 billion dollars, down three percent.
Standard & Poor's affirms its A-plus bond rating for Queen's health systems. Queen's has 28 percent of the Hawaii health care market and its operating revenues rose last year by more than six percent. But they still use those antique wheelchairs!
There's some confusion about the number of construction jobs in the state after a newspaper headline that said, "Hawaii still losing construction jobs" which is inaccurate. Hawaii gained 1,400 construction jobs from February to March. That brings the state to a total that remains below year-ago levels, but welcome for what it is, an improvement, not a decline.
