HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The founder of a martial arts school on Oahu accused of sexually assaulting a child has been ordered by the judge to stay away from the alleged victim.

Michael Shimabukuro, 31, of the Hawaii Karate Association pleaded not guilty to multiple sex assault charges at his arraignment at Circuit Court Monday morning. His trial is tentatively set for June.

A 17-year-old boy told investigators his karate instructor sexually assaulted him over a two-year period.

Shimabukuro taught classes in a dojo at the Japanese Cultural Center in Moiliili until October of last year. Sources say the Moanalua resident is also accused of serving alcohol to his underage students during sleep-overs at the center.

The suspect is free after posting $250,000 bail.
