WASHINGTON (HawaiiNewsNow) - Toyota is pulling sales of its Lexus GX460, in response to a safety warning by Consumer Reports.
The organization said the SUV had an unusually high risk of rollover accidents while making certain types of turns. In handling tests, Consumer Reports said sometimes the SUV was almost sideways, before it was righted by the electronic stability control system. It slapped the Lexus with a "don't Buy: Safety Risk", a label rarely given.
Toyota says it will suspend all sales, while it does its own testing on the problem. The Gx460's have only been on sale for about three months.
